Nice and light music short doc, but wished the story and editing was a bit tighter and focused.

The leading lady reminds me so much of all the kooky music teachers I’ve had; now I’m missing  playing violin in the orchestra.

Really wanted to love this one, but there’s something missing that didn’t make the film click for me.

First and foremost have to give it up to the actors, especially Mikey Madison. She and the rest of the ensemble brought a great realism and dynamism to their characters. I really enjoyed the crew at HQ and wished we could see more of their bond.

My main critique with this film is we don’t spend much time going behind the veneer…

This was a fun watch at the theaters.
It’s definitely not a film for everyone, particularly the ultra religious, sanctified saints or those staunchly against religion/Christianity. However, it’s a funny satire about faith and non-belief.

It was really cool to see an all Black cast in a biblical epic, and it definitely plays up the parallels Black people in current day and Jewish people in Roman occupied ancient Jerusalem.

It also plays a lot with genre and form, which I really enjoy, and had really fun sequences, particularly the chariot race and club scene. It’s something different, which I appreciate. I’d like to check out again.

Adorable, sweet, funny with a lil melancholy to ground it all.  Miss you so much grandma
