I respect the technique and I see the vision but I felt like the premise came before the script. Covet playing in the background of the climax lol. This unfortunately fell victim to misleading marketing because although it’s not necessarily a traditional “horror ghost story” I still found it to be haunting in some aspects.

Aliens 1986
James Cameron has absolutely no sauce. Such a tonal shift compared to the 1st and I get that they were trying to make a successful franchise that would generate a lot of revenue but even as a blockbuster it fucking sucks. Took away everything that made the xenomorph such a menacing and unstoppable creature and turned it into just another monster that’s easily killable. The first one had such a claustrophobic environment that made the creatures movements and presence such a looming threat throughout the entire film whereas here they’re just easily identifiable and non-threatening.
