stunning, jarring, and riveting in every way. surprisingly felt more “plot-focused” versus “world-focused” than most miyazaki films. it’s hard to match the sheer wonder of Spirited Away or the beauty of Howl’s Moving Castle, but make no mistake: this film is nowhere near a disappointment. if this is truly his last film, I can’t imagine a more vulnerable, raw, and fitting way to end miyazaki’s legendary filmography.

now I absolutely need to rewatch in dub to hear this english cast ru kidding me

just in case it wasn’t clear, all my letterboxd ratings are entirely subjective, as in, they’re just my opinions, and shouldn’t be looked as attempts to rate films based off of any objective scale, because that’s not what i’m doing

that being said, this is factually a FANTASTIC film that only gets better and better. the ninja turtles were my entire childhood, and watching this genuinely made me feel like a kid again. you already know about the gorgeous animation it…

working on this project was easily the highlight of my production experience at USC. to me, it’s only fitting that a passion project about human connection is was brought me so much closer to these people and collaborators i’ve grown to love. THANK YOU absit crew!!
