The Big Picture podcast 25 for ‘25 kicked off with Michael Clayton, so I finally sat down to watch it, and it did not disappoint. This film is a masterclass in acting, and storytelling. The dialogue is sharp, and the tension is never forced.
George Clooney gives one of my favorite performances of his career. Watching Tilda Swinton meltdown is brilliant as well, but it’s Tom Wilkinson performance that really steals the show. One of the best “people talking in rooms” movies I’ve seen in a very long time, but I’m not surprised considering it’s from my all time favorite movie year.
The Gorge had all the right ingredients to be something special. An intriguing premise, a strong cast, and Scott Derrickson at the helm. Given how much I enjoyed his darker films like Sinister and The Black Phone, and of course Doctor Strange, I went into this with high hopes.
