Shoutout to my high school teacher, Ms. McDonough, for her legendary 2013 run of showing us O Brother, Where Art Thou? after reading The Odyssey and also taking us to see The Great Gatsby in theaters after reading that. Elite teacher move.

Looking back, I definitely didn’t appreciate how funny this film is. The humor is sharp, the Soggy Bottom Boys steal the show, and A Man of Constant Sorrow hits even harder now. George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake…

The Big Picture podcast 25 for ‘25 kicked off with Michael Clayton, so I finally sat down to watch it, and it did not disappoint. This film is a masterclass in acting, and storytelling. The dialogue is sharp, and the tension is never forced.

George Clooney gives one of my favorite performances of his career. Watching Tilda Swinton meltdown is brilliant as well, but it’s Tom Wilkinson performance that really steals the show. One of the best “people talking in rooms” movies I’ve seen in a very long time, but I’m not surprised considering it’s from my all time favorite movie year.

Unfortunately, the film didn’t quite deliver. Instead of leaning into Derrickson’s signature darker tone, The Gorge plays it safe, resulting in a corny and cliche story that feels like a missed…

I seen ye sparrin’ with a gull. Best leave ‘em be. Bad luck to kill a seabird."

The first time I watched The Lighthouse, I wasn’t quite sure what to think besides WTF?!?! On my first rewatch though, a few things became clear.

This is an acting masterclass from two of the finest actors of their respective generations, Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. Watching them descend into madness is mesmerizing, showcasing their incredible range and intensity.

    The film’s costume and…
