Saw in IMAX for the 10 year anniversary. Continues to be my favorite movie of all time. Will have to return for every re-release.

I’m much more in tune with my emotions now than I was 10 years ago. The 23 years of videos scene focused on Cooper had me a mess. But there’s this subtle set up that I hadn’t noticed was such a devastating line. Romilly, having been alone for over 2 decades, says:

It didn’t seem right to dream my life away.

"The Ballet of the Red Shoes", a 15 minute dance sequence, took six weeks to shoot and employed over 120 paintings by Hein Heckroth. The dancing newspaper was achieved through careful cutting and use of wires. And they used a corps de ballet of 53 dancers. I hear all of that before seeing and worry if this will look and feel more theatrical or more cinematic. You just kinda hope it is as interesting as advertised. It more than delivers…

Ben Stiller's Eyes Wide Shut. Jim Carrey should make an appearance in Severance.

In a world where live action superhero stories are letting us down (Daredevil: Born Again innocent), animation is still working.

There should be a Watchmen story for every generation of humanity. (See 2019 miniseries.)

There is a deep political subtext in this movie as it pertains to the Paul character (played by the wonderful Delroy Lindo), the Vietnamese perspective of the war, the Norman character (played by a great Chadwick Boseman), and the archival footage dispersed throughout this film. What I want to talk about is the frequent use of Marvin Gaye's songs from his album What's Going On.

    We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer…
