So so cool to see a clear evolution of community level basketball competitions that explode to a global phenomenon, which then come around to influence the play of the real players. Just makes you fall in love with the game as an art form. Completely divorced from team winning or losing; just balletic grace and creativity. Enjoyed thoroughly

Only critique is that this film seems apprehensive  about addressing potential exploitation. Maybe a clip here or there of artists going “yes…

The way the white people in this film to this very day defend the way he was treated during that trial is disgusting and shows how the past is never truly gone. Don’t ever let them fool you that those days are gone. Even if the social standards change, the heart will not.

Extremely well done overall documentary. Sports will always represent larger movements and serve as fantastic lens to study how communities treat their important stories

I have to give this a perfect rating for two reasons
    1) this is the most visually striking film I have ever seen. It’s not the prettiest or the flashiest, it just has mind bending imagery. It’s not even haunting. It’s awesome in a biblical sense
    2) after the movie ended I, no joke, sat mouth agape unable to move until everyone in the theater cleared out. No thoughts no speculation. Just a broken mind.

    Truly an achievement

P.s.: this was my first time watching the film and series. I watched episodes 24-26 then immediately watched this on the big screen. A powerful experience

Pls let me know if I watched the wrong one. I wanted to watch the stage production, but if this is the correct version it’s so damn cheap. It’s amazing humans can sound like that, but lord almighty was the only good thing about this play the phantom himself and themes of passion. There’s no lavish sets, no awe inspiring scenes.

Im priding myself on discovering these old classics to understand where we came from, but god is this version…
