This film takes all of your anxiety and repeatedly slaps you in the face with it. Nevertheless, John Krasinski is still my man crush (no shame) and his final scene in the movie is the definition of manhood and fatherhood.

I liked it more than I thought I would. The Erwin Brothers do a decent job with faith films. It’s an average film with an average plot (you know the ending before you watch the beginning) but I appreciate their willingness to tackle the issue of domestic violence. For all of its faults, it’s still a good story with powerful moments.
Breathtaking cinema. For a large part of the story I kept thinking “What are they working towards? What is the purpose?” One family wanted a successful farmland but that wasn’t in sight. The other family wanted to be seen as equals and own land but that wasn’t in sight either. So if they didn’t know the future or what their purpose was, why should I as the viewer know? When everything unfolds the audience is right there with the characters. Definitely some powerful moments in storytelling.
