  As someone who leans more towards defending MEGALOPOLIS than criticizing it, seeing this has only emphasized the clear decline in Coppola’s cognisance and filmmaking abilities.
  He had a damn good run, and The Conversation is probably my favourite.

  One of the best films about an artists commitment to their craft, no matter how damaging and detrimental it is to themselves. Brilliant score and editing. 

  Musicians who hate it because “it’s not what would happen in real life” need to stay in their lane. Filmmakers rarely know what makes good music and musicians (clearly) don’t know what makes a good film.

  Watching this again reminds me that I need to check out Black Swan and Perfect Blue, as well as rewatch the rest of Damien Chazelle’s filmography.

  I expected to not love it, but I didn’t expect not to hate it either. Nothing really special about the story or even the songs but I still found it a little charming sometimes. Cute.
  I liked when the villain pulled out a real actual gun out of nowhere.

Following
