Largely excellent 1988 San Francisco photography marred by a plodding, rudderless plot and an abysmal lead performance by Harmon, who was clearly told to try to do Tom Cruise. Five Nights at Freddy's 2023
Not bad! Some very fun moments, some genuinely sharper filmmaking than I expected, and the performances were pretty strong all around (save for Elizabeth Lail, but I do think she’s almost completely hamstrung by the script and I don’t have any judgement about that). Unfortunately, it starts to strain and teeter and partially collapse under the weight of terribly tedious exposition. Still, all the same, a lot better than I was expecting.
UPDATE: A lot of people are being VERY unfair to this fundamentally fine movie!
