A Real Pain 2024
I enjoyed this film and I think Eisenberg touches on a very common experience. Everyone knows someone like Benji. Everyone has felt that complex emotional cocktail of resentment, rage, and irritation yet the same time jealous and admiration - towards that person that seems to be unbothered by traditional social cues. Unhindered by the shackles of nonsensical norms. Feeling simultaneous exasperation yet deeply appreciation.
Obviously Culkin has a great performance that is well deserving of his Oscar. I don’t think the film itself is truly amazing, but it was enjoyable and a nice medium for a great performance.
