  michael mannathon episode 5: in which michael mann's ipod is its own character with its own arcs

  the only way things could end, really. though watching it this time i was thinking about how poorly served it is by the marathon setting. while they're important context, i don't think mann's other movies really set you up to get something out of this one. the characters are flat and dour, the story is chaotic, bleak, and by turns feels pointless. but…

  the romance hasn't aged well but the script is still fantastic, all the threads coming together for jokes and crescendos just clicks so well and so consistently

  this script is absolutely incredible. wynona ryder's eyebrows deserve their own oscar for their performance in this movie.
