For the first half of the movie before my dad asked if I recognized her, I just kept thinking that afterwards I needed to look up who this elegant and talented actor was. I was so pleasantly surprised to see that this franchise wasn’t completely massacred by netflix! The one thing that I was like 🙁 about was that they made the “40 years later!” movie introduce Axel’s estranged daughter. Like idk I feel like I’ve seen that story a million times. But other than that the integrity of the movie lined up really well with all the others before it!

I hadn’t seen the musical before this movie but I think that the way in which the story is presented through film was so so beautifully done (Lin Manuel Miranda dub). Andrew Garfield’s work to learn all of Jonathan Larson’s most minute isms is so highly admirable (as an actor myself) and his dedication as far as learning how to sing (!!) for this role. The ticking heard throughout that only stops at the ending…
