  I Am Cuba 1964

  A visually stunning Soviet and Cuban propaganda film about the Cuban revolution made by very talented director that was subsequently disliked by both Soviets and Cubans. The former because it was deemed too artsy and self indulgent and the latter because it romanticized the life of Cubans and the struggle under the US backed Batista. With this context, it's a beautifully made poetic movie, and moving in it's regards to the poor and oppressed people rising up against it's oppressors. At the very least, the long take tracking shots and the way Americans are depicted make it a must watch.
