The basic plot seems like the direct inspiration for Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. A naive, idealistic innocent hits the road to find his stolen car. Hamill's character has a deep emotional attachment to the Corvette after recovering it from a trash heap and restoring it with the rest of his high school auto body class.

What follows is a journey of self-discovery through a cartoonist version of late 1970s Las Vegas. Hamill is wild-eyed and manic, proving to be an even…

Shot on location in a sun-bleached postcard found on the windshield of an abandoned RV. Typical fare from Wes Anderson is still far above other studio offerings on streaming or in theatres.

Outside of Anderson's track record for engaging and creative work, the craftsmanship, detail, and nuance in writing may have been more than enough to draw so many strong players to this project. One "quirky indie comedy" with Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Tilda Swinton, and a dozen other well-known and respected actors in an ensemble cast is remarkable.

Anderson's style is his own and easily parodied, but never boring.

Life is short. This is my justification for walking away from this movie with less than thirty minutes until the end. The trailer promised so much: a cast of comedy favourites, and a wild premise ripe for the kind of dark humour its stars could effectively deliver.

With the amount of source material available on Netflix alone, the creatives missed an opportunity to explore the motivations of cult members, as well as the "otherworldly" qualities of their leaders. Instead, Seven…

A family in the desert seems only somewhat bothered by bizarre lights, miniature aliens, and stop-motion monsters trespassing on their property. It may or may not have anything to with the effects of a 200-year-old supernova reported by the local news. Wardrobe department was on their game and the effects were not bad for the time. The period in film history when actors were needlessly credited as "guest stars," as if they were on episodes of The Love Boat.
