there is definitely a tooooonnn of potential here. the atmosphere is great and the tension and dread is built up really well-- to a point. at about the halfway point, where i feel things should've picked up and snowballed, instead it took a step back and shied away from itself. still, super interesting concept. i would've liked to see a bit more done with it and had darcy been a bit more significant. will be tuned in to mccarthy's future works!!

plot was convoluted. not really any legitimate reasoning or motive behind any of the actions. ending felt rushed and half-assed. HOWEVER... i'll always eat up a strange cult in the middle of nowhere film, especially if it has ayo edebiri in it.
