  Could easily be 5 stars on a rewatch. I'm obsessed with everything Kathleen Turner is doing here. She's so beautiful and her voice is so sexy and if she were my mom I would love her anyways too. Had no idea Matthew Lillard was in this until the opening title sequence?? Impossible to pick a favorite joke. Is "I'm so happy I could shit" a line Waters puts in all his movies, or did I just pick my watch order correctly to go straight from Multiple Maniacs to this? Mary Jo Catlett is an icon even when she doesn't recycle!!!

  Phenomenal in that way I don’t have the words to describe. There are so many individual shots that are as erotic as they are stomach-churningly horrific. A decent chunk of this movie is just Eggers’ showing off how good he is at camera panning. The overbearing bleakness of the color palette makes the sparing shots of fire or pure snow all the more vibrant. I could feel the score in my bones (and my Dolby Cinema theater seat). Nicholas Hoult…
