A serviceable if unremarkable entry into the Marvel canon. Mackie and Ford are compelling actors, the movie isn't without a decent idea or two, and the movie has the requisite action and effects you've come to expect from a Marvel movie. It's not so much that the movie does anything "wrong" per se, rather it just feels too "been there done that" and despite paying lip service to some relevant topics, doesn't really do enough with said ideas beyond anything surface level. Still, it's entertaining enough, but nothing more.

That said, this movie is definitely flawed and doesn't rank among Bong Joon Ho's best works (granted, that's a high bar to clear). Mickey 17 boasts a creative premise, a fantastic performance from Robert Pattinson, solid effects and production design, plus some welcome social commentary.

A classic that hasn't lost any of it's edge and still remains one of the definitive must-watch suspense movies, or just movies in general. Spielberg's pitch-perfect direction blends less-is-more Hitchcockian suspense building before culminating in an epic man vs nature third act. The film's cast remains impeccable, especially Robert Shaw as Quint, a modern Captain Ahab-like shark hunter. The deceptively simple monster movie plot weaves in themes of class, corporate greed, city politics, and more, never feeling preachy or cutting…
