  Holy shit remember when superhero movies weren't afraid to play it straight. This movie plays in the register of modern day myth and it does so amazingly. Dafoe in particular chews the scenery to the perfect degree, while everyone else keeps the human side of the story feel grounded in a fairy tale way. Even Franco portrays pathetic well.

  Incredible stunt work and fight choreography, just incredible. They don't make movies like this any more, probably because it's wildly unsafe. There's some great comedic bits here as well, though the rest of the movie is just Good and not Great.
