I didn't hate it, but I'm gonna be honest, I expected this to be queerer, bloodier, and more coherent. I feel like had this been named anything other than Conan, I probably would've had a better time and been more appreciative of what it was going for, but alas, it's got big shoes to fill.
Incidentally, I am now quite inspired to one day make a pulpy movie about barbarian lesbians in the tradition of Conan.
I watched this when it was coming out and I have to be honest, this is easily one of the most beautiful love letters to the medium of animation that I've ever seen. From the setting that didn't need to be that epic in scope, to the non-sequitur segments of them imagining the exciting sci-fi vehicles, characters, and adventures that they're animating, this whole thing is just phenomenal. Also Kanamori is forever best girl.
