I saw this at its UK premiere and the atmosphere was electric. The humour in this film was all gas no brakes—relentless, sometimes slightly risky, always completely unapologetic. An amazing experience.
It was also sweet to see Vera discuss the collaborative aspect of making the film in the Q&A, something that really shone through with the blend of live-action and animation used throughout.
Really cool film. Went in blind and hadn't expected something quite so experimental—a very exciting surprise.
I really like the choice to shoot this entirely digitally. It's not only very reminiscent of the 2010s internet era that the film captures, but also works wonderfully for blurring the lines between reality and fantasy (or between real life and the online world). It helps that I also just personally love the whole aesthetic, which is always a plus for me.
Definitely a film I will rewatch soon, as I think there's a lot more to explore that I haven't yet fully uncovered.
I really tried to give this film the benefit of the doubt - to not jump on the bandwagon and to appreciate its few highlights, despite how glaring its flaws are - but I just can't do it. The more I think about this film, the lower my opinion of it drops.
