This time round I could appreciate the subtleties and how genuinely well made it is. The use of light and colour makes the film really beautiful to watch.
It’s still not my type of film, never been able to fully enjoy period piece dramas apart from little women but it’s a very solid film. Also still very funny at times, the boiled potatoes line is comedic genius.
Wish the ending wasn’t such an anticlimax but it’s definitely a nice ending.
I’ve got two types. My girlfriend and over the top films from around the 80s with great soundtracks.
This is able to pack more in 90 minutes than most films are able to in multiple hours. It has themes of crime, class, brotherhood and many more all brilliantly executed.
It’s such a fun film that keeps u entertained throughout with a great set of characters with some brilliant designs for the various gangs.
So many scenes have stuck with me from the end scene to the bit with the couples staring at each other on the train.
Just a phenomenal film and an instant favourite.
