In one sense I appreciate adaptation that disregard the source material and do their own thing. But here it seems like they didn't understand what made Death Note work in the first place. It comes across as ignorance rather than a unique interpretation. Also, no one got called an idiot in this movie?

The Long Goodbye 1973
So much to say about this film but one of the things I truly love is how terrified Marlow is of the dog. It's such a great character moment. A stoic, rough hero reduced to a nothing but a whimper by this beast of an animal.
