Decided to watch this for the first time in almost 20 years and it definitely holds up. Besides some mostly easy to forgive plot holes and dragged out fight scenes, this is still a solid movie with a lot of entertainment value. Definitely one of the better things Disney has ever produced but that really isn’t saying much.

I want to keep this review spoiler free as to encourage others to give this a watch but let me say, it’s well worth your time. The ending was absolute chills, the story is a layered one that keeps getting crazier as it goes on and the fact that it’s a true story that happened to the actor/creator makes for a truly unique viewing experience.

Being Irish and having great pride in that means I was really hoping this film would be good and live up to the high expectations I had for it. It exceeded those expectations so much that I can confidently say it’s my favorite film of 2022 so far. The cinematography is absolutely beautiful from the vast emptiness of Inisherin to the authentic looking towns it’s phenomenal on the eyes from start to finish. The story is a sad one but…

I missed on this one for way too long and it did not disappoint. Jennifer Kent is an underrated director that I’m sure will become more appreciated with time. To have this as a debut and following it up with The Nightingale is insane. The Babadook was engaging throughout and had some really interesting and genuine scares. The cinematography was great and the music really set an anxious atmosphere. This one is definitely going to be added to the collection soon.
