Fun overall - Pattinson is brilliant and it’s always wonderful to see Cameron Britton get work in cool projects.
A bit too long; and I hate to say it, but Ruffalo’s performance - which was only a hair’s width difference from his much stronger POOR THINGS character - really started to grate on me. Too much of a rehash with a dash of you-know-who-ness.
Loved the creepers, and the love story between Mickey and Nasha.
More a 2.75…
I love the idea of this movie. The exercise is a really intriguing concept. And it worked in moments… but mostly it felt like a feature length version of that Carousel ride of progress or whatever it’s called at Disney World.
Things I liked:
- Hanks and Wright did a fine job acting - no brainer there - i wish the script gave them more. Everything felt very surface level.
- Enjoyed the horny Lazy Boy inventor…
I love my daughter and her bestie, but i really hate being dragged to these stupid movies
People love to call all sorts of films “Lynchian” - 99.9 times out of a 100, they are wrong.
Jane Schoenbrun is the only filmmaker worthy of this comparison, and not in any sort of standard way that one would normally make that comparison…what they share with Lynch is a unique way of making us feel the surreality that exists in the banality of life - and that is what makes them both brilliant.
A gorgeously human and gut-wrenchingly sad…
