The tragic nature of the lives of these children, descending from fun and lively to literally walking skeletons makes the impact of war so much more profound. The visual breakdown of literal children, as one takes on the caregiver role despite being just a child himself. This film made me want to hug my older brother that extra bit tighter.

needless to say, love and adore the casting of this film! The dedication of the actors portraying these characters was phenomenal, I mean Florence literally shaved her head for this film. I think the sentiment was there, but I felt like the plot limited its impact in some ways. The balance between devastation and humour definitely helped the impact of the story, but the focus on the cooking aspects of Florence’s character in my opinion took away from the rest…
