    An almost entirely forgotten film by Kazan, even though it was nominated for Best Picture in 1963. Still some striking photography of Turkey during the First World War.

    A better musical than Emilia Perez, a better biopic than Bohemian Rhapsody. 

    There is zero acknowledgment that he’s a chimpanzee. It would be like a biopic about Adele where everyone is human, but Adele is played by Miss Piggy and not one person even gestures towards the fact that she’s a muppet. Really astounding/confounding way to push the boundaries of cinematic narrative.
