This film reminded me of “il gattopardo” by Visconti. Both films really give a perspective on the turn of modernity - they show the interaction between the old generation and the new one -their children already adjusted to modernity. While this encounter occurs later than the one in the leopard, it is still a substantial one, as the parents do really represent the “old world” that resides in their village. It shows not only the change of time but the…

    Saw this on a flight.
Not a very good movie, the movie falls to being too cliché many times. The portrayal of love is very immature.
It is refreshing to see a love movie between two boys but only two boys could show the fight between two children of power.
In addition, the perception of being a child of power, be it the us president or the British king, is very shallow. There’s lots of room for more depth in the characters and plot.
Overall it was so bad I nearly didn’t finish it.

Watching this film is a moment worth living for.

This is the best description I could recount of my experience.
Watching this film was feeling life, at its full pain and glory. At its full strength.
Having known Almodovar and despite “Todo sober Mia madre” also being one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen, Almodovar surprised me and succeeded again.
This is one of the greatest examples of how being literary and emotional transfers to the audience through acting, or as phrased in French, interpretation. So much intimacy is created, between Almodovar, Banderas and myself.
