Every frame in this is so beautiful, but the film is glaringly aware of itself as an artistic production. That factor does not take away from its overall quality, but it sticks out like a sore thumb and it’s all I could think about throughout my watch

I think calling it a sequel is a misnomer because although the main characters from SFaM are in it, the crux of the story is built around different characters.
It’s a slow burn for sure but it’s the kind that feels like the gradual bloom of a flower. It’s still an exploration of relationship dynamics and I was shocked by how things progressed although when I think about it, the signs were right there.

I don’t know how to communicate my annoyance with this film. I don’t want to acknowledge how hooked I was when it opened with Zadok the priest, how stunning the cinematography was, how I adored Rosamund’s character in the first half.

All the attempts to explain Oliver’s motivations were so uninspiring & underwhelming. Ah it’s such a terrible story. It’s so unfortunate that all the possibly great things about this film were undone by such rubbish writing

So many things to love about this. The brothers’ chemistry. The “Live That Way Forever” performance. Their shared joy, their pain. Heart warming and heart wrenching.

Holt McCallany’s strong performance made sure we did not lose sight of how toxic their father was. But man, can we talk about how their mother’s inaction made her 100% complicit in everything that happened. Her role was so insidious, and Maura Tierney delivered that subtle toxic parenting so well.

    We watch Kevin’s fight…
