I love that feeling when you realize nearly all of what you think you know about the film is wrong, and a slow stream of events trickle in to make sense in a new way. Movies like that are few and far between these days. Bonus points because I was full of Chinese food, and there was some serious depth to the for-shadowing from our viewing party.

Absolutely loved it. highlights the complex (and sometimes backtracking) process of leaving a relationship with DV and substance use present. Also a beautiful account of one moms fierce, playful, imperfect relationship with her young daughter. I also liked a lot of the creative text used (spending/earnings) as well as the times the scene takes on Alex’s internal experience before snapping back to objective reality.
