My daughter loves this movie. It’s important to know that the Dog Man is “written by” the kids from Captain Underpants. It has all the whimsy, creativity and full on craziness you’d expect from something “written by children.” I fully laughed several times in this movie and was never bored. It was a great time in the theater with the various ages of kids who seemed to be having a ball. There’s even a touching story about found families hiding in there.
I had a great time with this movie. I even welled up at a few points at the end. Cynthia Erivo was immediately captivating and Ariana Grande was funnier than I ever expected her to be. The two of them had wonderful chemistry, both acting and singing, often beating the originals.
While the time flew by, there’s no reason for the adaptation of the first half of a 165 minute play to be 160 minutes. There’s no good justification based…
The worst part of this movie is that it left me wanting more and I know for a fact it won’t come. A great send off to the series.
My daughter (6 yo) loves this movie. She’d give this a 4.
But I think this movie is luke warm ass. It looks bad even for it’s time and it’s poorly written. Every joke in this movie is technically a joke with a set up and punchline. Laughs are optional.
The craziest part of this movie is that it has an incredible cast. Will Smith does his Will Smith thing and Jack Black is fine. Some damn how Martin Scorsese…
