The Coen brothers are movie-masters. This movie sucks you in from the very beginning, with Llewyn Davis playing a heartfelt and sad folk song. The thing that stood out the most for me was the cinematography. I can't explain it technically because I'm no expert but it managed to create an emotionless and hostile environment, making the cold New York even colder. This perfectly fit with the unfortunate events that happen over and over again in Llewyn's life.
