Maybe it's her off-putting facial expressions that make me think that, but Shailene Woodley is a really poor actor. Thankfully, this film features a decent performance by Ben Mendelsohn, and an intriguing and gripping plot that kept me hooked until the very end (even if it's quite unrealistic at times). Definitely captured the reality of the FBI-police bureaucracy and rivalries and how they can derail murder-solving strategies.

Ryan Gosling is so fucking suave and fine, but this film is a fumbling back of inconsistency. The opening scene was extremely promising and suspense-inducing, but the first half of the film (with the boring Carey Mulligan subplot) was so unnecessarily draggy and could have been slimmed down. Film does return to form in the second half but the excessive violence does come out of nowhere, even if it was great to watch. Such a shame really, because without the draggy first half, I would have enjoyed the film way more :(

I'm not sure why critics are giving this film rave reviews- this film is just your standard Bollywood masala action flick made from the Western perspective. All of the themes being explored in this film (corruption, caste discrimination) is commonly explored in Indian cinema, but when Hollywood makes a movie about it it's apparently the second coming of Jesus 🤦‍♂️

This film presents a very questionable message that women can only escape the clutches of their controlling parent(s) dictating everything for them by getting with much older men & selling themselves. Not a fan.

Also am not a fan of Emma Stone going full r****d (quickly overstays its welcome), as well as Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe having the worst impressions of British accents ever. They were horrible.

Have no idea why critics seem to love this movie, its utter dogshit. Or maybe its because the cynical me was expecting a serious character study instead of a farcical comedy.
