Decided to re-watch this classic that I haven't seen since its release. It still holds up, for the most part.

The first thing I noticed is how many memorable scenes this film has. Even after over a decade, I still remember certain moments like the back of my hand. A young Jennifer Lawrence at the time brought a fresh approach to the action Female protagonist and inspired a generation of copycat films that tried to recreate a strong female lead.…

    An unpolished gem.

The cast is phenomenal with fantastic performances all around. The only things holding this film back is the directive choices and postedit. Its rough around the edges at certain parts and the pacing could be better. Also the choice is music is hit or miss, as generic as it is.

The actual hacking is slightly realistic, specially for a 90s movie which is a notorious era for overdramatizing computer's capabilities. Honestly I have no idea on how all these movies have a piece of software that can digitally enhance zoomed in photo's from, but I wish I had it.

This film slowly paces itself, peeling back each layer slowly like an onion. Its dark, tackling something that truly effects hundreds of families daily. Maybe a tad bit overdramatic at times, but not to the degree where things are extremely unbelievable. Its still grounded in realism.

A well paced revenge plotted movie featuring Mads Mikkelsen? Sign me up please.

All around a very solid film with several standout performances and a great directive direction. Mads plays the quiet, stern, somewhat angry man that he excels at deeply in almost all films I see of him as a main protagonist. I think this partially has to do with his deadpan execution of his dialogue interactions. Nevertheless, still a well rounded film.
