Are any of us born in the right era, on the right side of the river? A few, I suppose. And fewer still with the ability to do anything we want to do. All of us trying to find what we want to do. Betrayed or not by one or both parents, trauma, inequity. Wanting so much, or do we, to be like someone else. To have enough space not to need to fight.

Enough by itself: Characters I care about.

Sound track: Eno, Cat Stevens, Lou Reed, Nilsson.

Costume: at 0:50:02 Greg is wearing the exact Dickies hoodie that I own.

Cast: Leads Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke and RJ Cyler are fantastic. Nick Offerman is exquisitely deranged. Supporting cast in an array of quirky characters are hilarious.

Style: playful, self-mockingly hyper, stop motion imagination scenes, film-within-film-within-film.

    Film refs: Hertzog/Kinsky.

    Relationship dynamics: push pull. Heart.

    Cons:

I got the recommendation from a website, not one of my friends. What's wrong with you plebs?

Great performances. Usual Coen punch. But the characters? The story? I couldn't see the point of sitting through all the violence.

    Rather dull.
