  Obviously, Cronenberg is the guy. He knows exactly how to pace his stories, pulling the realness out of fun spooky stories.

  Two decades late to the party.

  This is how you make an entertaining action-adventure film, duh. 

  Watch this and then try to watch the new Electric State in comparison. One is a film and a story; the other is a product and content.

  Those vestments, they got me going. Everyone looks like a million bucks, age spots and all. 

  Fiennes does the heaviest lifting, but the cast is so tight.  Lithgow finally gets to play someone not 90. Good wig. Nice wig.

  Is this the best Alien film up to this point?

  Based on the tone, themes, visual effects, dialogue, and overall sound and visual design? Of course.

  Based on whether it's like the Alien films? Who cares.

  I think detractors are just genre people disappointed that Scott didn't do Old Alien in the 21st Century.

  His project was a ludicrously expensive meditation on god, whether he exists, does he hate us if he does, and that is just excellent.
