One of the better Netflix crime docs, partially because it, by its very nature, features a wealth of footage from Petito and Laundrie’s doomed final days. If not for the inclusion and centering of Petito’s family, it could have easily dipped into exploitation territory. All in all the filmmakers handle it well. But my god what a terribly sad and terribly preventable tragedy.

A sorta folksy horror flick that ruminates on the notion of faith vs fact in a different way than most possession movies. The cast is deeply committed to the overall batshit tone. It’s always amazing when you can get so many people on the same page when dealing with this sort of material.
The film’s maniacal final reel is reminiscent of Sam Raimi, and one of most prominent stylistic influences: Viy.
And anyone who knows me knows how much a love a fully on fire stunt performer. This movie has a ton of them!

Great season of true crime tv. Attorney Krantz fucks babies, I just know it.
A new trash classic. Piles of terrible, bizarre choices on every level of production. The thing is, these choices are made in earnest by EXTREMELY committed people. Dumb as hell, but lightning paced and a fuck of a lot of fun. Super duper trashy in all the best ways. If this were shot on film and released in the 1970s, we’d all have a wonderful reverence for it.
