There are so many fascinating ideas at play in this delightfully bittersweet movie that it feels wrong to pinpoint it as being about any one “thing”. I received it as a series of thoughtful experiments: What would it look like if we transposed a language and way of life across geographical space? What does such a transplantation reveal about things that are shared and things that are different? And what if the two cultures that lie at different ends of this transposition were both held within the same body?
