purportedly a horror thriller that lacks scares or thrills and relies on Kathy Bates award winning performance… overall the production design isn’t anything to write home about and some elements, especially make up, look quite cheap
it’s a shame because the narrative would support an examination of what we’d call “stan culture” now but instead it falls back on to hysterical tropes… aside from Bates it fails to be any fun
regret to inform you all that I am the target audience for this film
a work of art and not a product, I don’t so much care whether it’s “good” or “bad” more than I enjoy the director and cast repeatedly taking huge swings
we may not see another like it for years, if ever, so I’m glad I saw it and even gladder I saw it in IMAX
