There is clearly a satirical element to this movie that is just missing. I can’t imagine that the film is supposed to treat these plot developments as seriously as it does. It saps all the personality out of any of the characters and it becomes hard to get on the same wavelength with the film. Funeral Parade of Roses 1969
This movie is inventive in its combination of documentary, arthouse, and experimental cinema in a flurry of comedy and tragedy. The visuals alone are worth the price of admission. There is something so alluring about how fearless this film is to be itself and to exist both at the margins and outside the conventional trappings of movies and cinematic language. This is one of the few films that allows itself to revel completely in its own queerness.
