this movie was so beautifully shot i literally can’t get the visuals and color palettes out of my head. i love how the movie explores the relationships that women (including trans women) build to support each other in times of hardship. Almodovar paints a complex picture of grief, mothership, and found family, and it’ll have you crying and laughing at the same time

Made in Hong Kong 1997
if Wong Kar-Wai's movies are a love letter to Hong Kong, this movie shows Hong Kong from a working class perspective: it's a dynamic, crazy place, but also a gritty and brutal city that moves quickly and leaves the poor and vulnerable behind. seeing the main character struggle with family and what society demands of him but finding an escape with his friends made me want to hold my friends closer and hug them

Pride & Prejudice 2005
my favorite Jane Austen adaptation, there's something so satisfying and comforting about it. Kiera Knightley does an incredible job of bringing Elizabeth's cheekiness and wit to life
