Marty 1955
Here’s a character-led story with a simple plot. No twists or turns. No fancy filmmaking.
Just a story of average guy we can respect.
He knows his mind, he cares for women, he sees beauty on the inside.
He swam upstream in the 50s, and 75 years later the current is even stronger.

Great build up with interesting characters, a David vs. Goliath premise, cool retro technology, but a lackluster landing.
“It’s not about politics. It’s about emotions.” Sadly, the emotional connection in final act was missing.

A Place in the Sun 1951
The film is a little slow as it begins but then picks up the intensity quickly.
There are some powerful scenes toward the end with the priest that drive biblical ethics home along with some reading of Scripture about Jesus.
Powerful film.
