Adolescence 2025
Sad, honest, and moving portrayal. The storytellers resist a heavy-hand by not blaming specific people or things for the atrocities. No, instead, they let the viewers assess the scenario.
Could parents raise their children better? Yes.
Are there wicked voices telling boys how to treat women? Yes.
Are there complicated psychological issues going on? I think so!Ultimately, though, we must recognize that sin is the root cause of this violence. Thank goodness for parents, civil servants, counselors, and officers…

The Bad and the Beautiful 1952
“You’ve got to give the devil his due.”
Films about film or the stage (or about the start of a business) are fascinating to me. The artistic process can be so messy. This chaos of divergent opinions often makes a great product. Some thrive on the mess, or at least don’t care!
For some artists and leaders the process doesn’t matter only the product. They bark, bite, and manipulate, but the ends justify the means. Right?
Sure, the devil can do…

Marty 1955
Here’s a character-led story with a simple plot. No twists or turns. No fancy filmmaking.
Just a story of average guy we can respect.
He knows his mind, he cares for women, he sees beauty on the inside.
He swam upstream in the 50s, and 75 years later the current is even stronger.

A Place in the Sun 1951
The film is a little slow as it begins but then picks up the intensity quickly.
There are some powerful scenes toward the end with the priest that drive biblical ethics home along with some reading of Scripture about Jesus.
Powerful film.
