  This is like a 2-2.5⭐️ film totally boosted by the how damn good and scary the creature is. The first encounter with it sent a shockwave through my whole body. Also gets points for not bothering with the grief-horror “it’s just all in your head” BS- this thing is very clearly physically present.

  Slick and totally engaging. Direction is firing on all cylinders. Two master class thespians just eating everything up, matched with an equally enthusiastic supporting cast. This is how you do a dialogue-heavy plot-boiler.

  Dune: Part Two 2024

  Absolutely brilliant. I loved the first part, but this surpassed it in pretty much every way. Dune highlights so many flaws in big budget films these days- the action was actually thrilling and visceral, the plotting was comprehensible and intriguing, and it looks and sounds incredible.

  I gotta say though, I feel like there are weird bits of dialogue in Denis’ scripts (“Wanna make a baby?”) that are present here as well. They always take me out of his films just a teensy-weensy bit but who gives a shit when you’re eatin’ this good.

  The Green Knight 2021

  Amazing. The wild, colorful visuals paired perfectly with the surreal, fantasy setting. Loved the score, characters, and had just enough ambiguity for me that I never felt disoriented.

  And what a bold ending. This movie will be sticking with me for sure. Time will tell, but this could end up being a favorite.
