Fitting tight and snug leading directly into Episode IV:A New Hope,Rogue One tells the story of, first, how the rebels (many of who lost their lives) were able to acquire the plans of the Death Star. But, it also answers a key question as to why they sought to go after it AND why that pesky weakness was there in the first place.

THE REPERCUSSIONS AND DETAILS OF WHICH ARE THEN MEASURED OUT ENTIRELY FROM BEHIND HIS STEERING WHEEL AND OVER HIS CELL PHONE FOR THE NEXT 85 MINUTES, ALMOST IN REAL TIME.

I very much liked my experience with this watching. I felt the gimmick was used to great effect. Admittedly, the story began to lose momentum in the final third of the film for me. And there is no climactic ending to bank on as you trudge through this. But, true to Linklater's style, this is just life and some of the most magical moments happen without set-up, without fanfare, and without a soundtrack. It's a 3 hour movie, so settle in. It's not all drama and there is no action, so prepare to get lost in the dialogue. But I do recommend this film.
