  As a standalone movie it was inconsistent. Not scary enough or funny enough to be a horror-comedy, but tried at both. And it spent a lonnngg time trying.

  As a sequel, it didn't have that special something that the first one did. The first one wasn't perfect, but it felt like an old Amblin flick. Fun, heartwarming, and maybe scary if I was 10.

  Huh, I thought I had seen this but I definitely had not.

  Quick notes
  - lots of fun, moves quicker than I'm used to for these space horror movies
  - goes darker than I expected, and loved that it did so
  - has some really poor decision making, but less than I'm used to in these kinds of movies
  - Laurence Fishburne was great in this! I mean he usually is, but yeah this was great.
