Vin and I saw this in new york, it was fun and all and just god *dammit* it just had a lot of sharply-done characters. Like mostly for laughs, not the sort of heart-gushing relatability of sharply-done characters in a romcom or something. They made me laugh a LOT though, and also sometimes made my heart ache to be close with them.

Idk how much it is the 80's of it, where I can tell it was Made In A Different Time, but something abt the filmmaking here manages to end up with a project that shows so many good nuggets while carrying momentum thru its plot. Showing ways to make sharp SF, showing ways of revolutionary conversations and meetings, showing ways of white appropriation of Black cultures, showing ways of questioning the effectiveness of allied political strategies, showing ways of questioning…
