Third viewing and this film just keeps getting better! Definitely in my top 25 of all time. Thomas Neman’s score is a perfect match for the setting and themes. Also some of the best lines ever: “this is no longer our home. It’s just an empty house” and “there are only murderers in this room”. Also I believe this was Paul Newman’s last live-action performance of his career. The man mic dropped his legendary career with an absolute banger.

I watched this on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised by how good Aubrey Plaza was in this movie! It’s nothing groundbreaking but its characters and their motives are compelling enough to drive the story forward.

As someone who is from Memphis, this film feels very authentic. As far as I know most of this film was shot on location. The streets and neighborhoods have that unique Memphis feeling. When it comes to the story, it's everything I love about 90s drama. The writers respect the audience's intelligence and allow you to figure things out for yourself as the plot unfolds. For me, The glue that sticks the entire film together is Tom Cruise's performance and the suspenseful, yet jazzy piano score!
