    If you want to understand the global phenomena of child soldering, deep trauma, and bleakness in war, then watch this movie. The only caveat is that you may be haunted all life long by this picture. Beasts of no Nation revealed the horrors inside the trenches of battle and the minds of the enslaved children.

    I really enjoyed watching this movie. I thought it was very emotionally impactful as well as entertaining. The most impactful scenes were when Christopher enters MNU and sees the experiments being done on the aliens, when Tania calls Wikus and tells him that they can't be together anymore, and when the MNU soldiers abuse the aliens. I think that district 9 accurately displays the conditions of real-life refugee camps and ghettos. The movie uses the setting and the plot to push an anti-racism and segregation narrative.

    I didn't know much about Gandhi or India's path to independence. This movie really surprised me. While I knew that Gandhi advocated for non-violence, I didn't know to what extent he believed in those principles. Seeing him fast in order to stop violent riots was very commendable. All of Gandhi's speeches, especially those advocating for non-cooperation and non-violence were incredibly inspirational and thought-provoking.
