Ephemeral and dreamlike, TLS is a wistful film that ruminates on the choices women make and are actually able to make. Anderson's performance is rightfully getting plaudits and Kiernan Shipka puts in a strong supporting performance in a film that is flooded with nostalgia for faded Vegas glory, whilst shining a light on society's attitude towards beauty and aging
Proper grown up film making. This is evocative and - from discussions with family - authentically reminiscent of the period. There is good chemistry between the leads and the film is nicely paced, sitting alongside other procedural pieces like the post. Leonie Benesch excels once again and I can't wait to see her in more lead roles
I might go into the specifics of just exactly what is wrong with it at some point, but for now I'll just say that this film is so bad, that if there were the possibility of a BTTF-esque rewriting of history, where FFC never became a director, it would be worth never having had the Godfather & Apoc Now to be free of this absolute monstrosity.
Pretty good. I think they've done well to get another decent film out of the franchise and it's probably a good thing to have left the Abbott family completely out of this one. New viewers who haven't seen 1 & 2 will still be able to enjoy this even if the film doesn't waste any time answering questions they may have about the aliens. Like in the other films, there are moments of genuine suspense and tension and the flipping of stereotypical roles/tropes works nicely. Made me want to eat pizza (always a bonus)
