A dystopian, exploratory SciFi that tackles some serious topics in an utterly unserious way. Why is our relationship with perceived power so deranged? Are human beings expendable? Can we ‘play god’? For me this film reaches for the immersive story telling of the likes of Jeunet and Anderson, but doesn’t fully get there. Did I enjoy the adventure, hmm sure, but it was quite the long expedition 🖨️

The Monkey 2025
A toy monkey with a thirst for death, what could go wrong? Well quite a lot if you turn that key as it happens. Although unnecessarily sentimental as the film progresses, it’s mostly framed as a dark, ludicrous, and at times self-aware, tale of a mysterious family heirloom. Ready yourself for a lot of Monkey Business 🙊
